“Plains Modern: Postwar Architecture In Kansas”

In December 2020, I, with Chris Fein and Robert McLaughlin, was invited by Docomomo US to write three articles about modern architecture in Kansas for their nationally-distributed newsletter. This was the latest installment in their “Regional/City Spotlight” series and is incorporated as a permanent part of Docomomo US’s website. Docomomo is a short acronym for: the Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighborhoods of the Modernist Movement. Docomomo US is a component of the international organization and was founded in 1995 with dedication to advocacy, education, and documentation of our nation’s modern architectural heritage.
The articles include an introduction and cover office buildings in Wichita and the Docking building written by Grogan and an article on modernist residential article authored by Fein.
